For the fourth and final trip this summer, we took the Young Carers to Drayton Manor Theme Park. It was an even earlier start this morning with the coach leaving at 9 am. As the Young Carers arrived at the Carers Centre, the majority of them were wide awake and looking forward to an action packed day of exhilarating rides and attractions. The rest were still half asleep but that would all change in a matter of hours.
With a good number turning up, the Young Carers sat next to their friends on the coach who they would ultimately be working around the theme park. Those who were new nervously started speaking to other Young Carers who regularly attend the groups found comfort, became less shy and came out of their shells instantly striking up friendships and sticking together throughout the day.
We arrived on time and collected the tickets. Three...two...one...poof they were off to make their ways to the queues that had only opened a few minutes prior to our arrival.
The theme park was busy but there didn't appear to be many long waits on the larger rides and roller coasters.
Throughout the day we crossed paths with some of the Young Carers in their groups and they were telling us all thing that they had been on, with some even getting lucky on the sideshow games and winning soft toys.
At the end of the day, we all met at the prearranged meeting place and headed towards the coach to make our way back to the Carers Centre
A lot of tired but extremely happy faces all around the coach. What a great way to end the Young Carers Summer.
